What the heck is a "juke joint" anyway?

Historically, it's a traditional African-American blues club similar to a roadhouse or honky-tonk. Wesley "Junebug" Jefferson describes jukes as "having fewer rules than clubs do". From Robert Johnson to R. L. Burnside, it's always been where downhome Delta blues is played!
